It’s no secret Lewis Hamilton is struggling in his first Formula One season driving for Scuderia Ferrari, something he’s claimed was his dream all along. While some fans have been vocal about their frustrations with his performance, what really riled many up was the team releasing photos of J-Lo or singer Jennifer Lopez posing with Hamilton in the team’s garage.
Maybe Hamilton can take up farm machine drag racing?
The visit happened at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix where J-Lo also performed over the weekend. While we innocently just thought it was the singer trying to get attention, rumors apparently flared up that her and Lewis Hamilton are dating.
We somehow missed all the gossip about Hamilton saying something about “taking his shot” with J-Lo at the Met Gala last year. But plenty of people caught that one and remembered it, bringing that instance up immediately.
All Scuderia Ferrari HP had to say when it posted photos of the meeting was “Iconic.” However, plenty of fans strong disagreed, voicing their objections on social media. Some said Enzo Ferrari is rolling around in his grave.
Others called out F1 in general, saying the teams should stop brining celebrities with no ties to motorsports into their garages, instead inviting regular fans for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We have to say, that’s a great idea.
We would far rather see a starry-eyed fan enthusiastically posing with Lewis Hamilton than J-Lo in a pink “racing suit” or whatever it’s supposed to be with a smug look on her face. To her, it’s just another publicity stunt to keep herself in the news cycle.
Whether Lewis Hamilton and Jennifer Lopez are a thing now really doesn’t matter to us. What we do care about is how F1 events in many ways have become three ring circuses, threatening to relegate the actual racing to the background.
