Scuderia Ferrari HP driver Lewis Hamilton shocked everyone when he dropped a new video that puts him in a famous scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The Formula One champion plays the role of the valet who takes the Ferrari 250 GT California off the kids’ hands with a $5 tip.
Check out another way Lewis Hamilton is cutting loose before the season begins.
The video is obviously a way for Hamilton to have a little bit of a laugh that he’s now driving a Ferrari in F1, fulfilling one of his dreams. At the end there’s even a quote from him about that: “For all the kids out there who dream the impossible.”
Edward Norton makes a nice cameo in the reworked scene, playing the other valet. Both do their best excited faces when they jump the incredibly valuable classic Ferrari while blasting around Chicago.
We can’t imagine how many hours went into producing this video. Not only did Hamilton and Norton have to shoot the scenes and get everything just so, editors then had to insert them into the famous sequence.
Plus, someone dropped some serious coin on getting permission to use the footage from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. We don’t know if that was Hamilton himself, Scuderia Ferrari HP (not as likely), or someone else.
While the video is funny, let’s just say Hamilton is an infinitely better driver than actor, not that we would fare any better at doing something like this. It’s great to see him relaxing and having some fun again after all the drama from last season, so hopefully this is a sign of things to come.
This season of F1 racing promises to be interesting, not matter what ultimately happens with Hamilton and his new team. But expectations for the driver are high, so perhaps this is a way of dealing with all the pressure.
