Instagram automotive influencer Autumn Spooner is pleading for help after her $150,000 custom Camaro ZL1 was stolen. The Arizona resident was visiting Southern California for an event with her modified muscle car when some thieves decided to help themselves.
Watch a Dodge Scat Pack, Porsche 911 GT3 RS crash into each other on a track.
The Camaro ZL1 has been made into a 1:24 diecast car by Jada Toys as part of its Pink Slips line. Spooner was in Costa Mesa for the launch of the toy version of her beloved ride when the Chevy was stolen.
What’s interesting is the vehicle wasn’t parked at the hotel where Spooner was staying – she flew to the event. Instead, Jada Toys transported the ZL1 there and had it on display in the parking lot at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa when it was taken on the evening of June 6.
We can’t believe there wasn’t a security guard posted up to watch the pricey car. After all, with it literally on display and attracting attention, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out someone might decide taking it would be cool.
What’s more, there’s been a problem with Camaros being stolen with ease, especially in Southern California recently. Some owners have argued the security protocol for the key fobs is a joke, allowing criminals to swipe the muscle cars with impunity.
Plus, car theft in the Los Angeles area has been a problem that’s vexed even celebrities who live there. Again, how Jada Toys didn’t realize it needed to have security posted up to watch the Camaro ZL1 is just crazy.
Spooner is understandably upset and we would be as well. Having your stuff stolen is violating, especially when it’s a car you’ve put a lot of time, effort, and part of yourself into while customizing it.
So far there haven’t been any leads leading to the capture of those responsible for the theft. But a car like this doesn’t just fly under the radar. Someone knows something, so if you do step up and do the right thing.
