We never realized how incredible bolting a Hellcat supercharger onto an LS motor could be until we saw a YouTuber do it. The guy and his buddies dropped a 6.0-liter LS V8 into an old third gen Camaro that has seen better days, which alone is a decent upgrade. But adding the blower makes the build ludicrous.
Check out a Toyota Supra with a Hellephant engine swap.
Funny enough, the engine was donated by a GM truck, being a gen four LY6. It uses LS3-style cylinder heads with rectangle ports. The thing is stout, allowing it to take all kinds of boost without many issues.
Of course, this isn’t a plug-and-play operation. While the guy found a kit for bolting together the supercharger and engine from Mopar and GM, getting everything working correctly takes some fine tuning.

Even with the two working in concert, controlling the Camaro becomes a wee bit of a struggle. While the old muscle car is caged, which helps increase torsional rigidity, thus making it easier to control, the thing still is a beast to wrestle.
That’s understandable when you see it running on the dyno. With the timing tuned just right, it’s making barely under 700-whp – not too shabby considering the curb weight of such a ride. In the video, you can watch them play with the timing as well as the air intake to see how those affect output.
Not surprisingly, this same engine before was used in a twin-turbo setup and it made more power, 773-whp to be exact. While some might be shocked at that, knowing the difference between the two forced induction methods, we aren’t.
Either way, we’re digging this Hellcat LS combo. It’s wild enough, the guy scared the crap out of his mom. His dad just put the car into a ditch.
