We unfortunately see a lot of vehicles hitting buildings, like this Ford F-150 which plowed into a house, triggering a HAZMAT response to the scene. However, that wasn’t because the pickup hit a gas line or anything else in the home that was particularly dangerous. Instead, it was because of what the Ford was transporting.
Toyota Tacoma partially melted in California fire starts right up.
The collision took place on January 19 in El Cajon, California at just after 1 pm, reports 619 News Media. While police are still investigating the cause of the crash, they know the driver of the F-150 hit a tree originally.
That impact sent the Ford through a residential fence and finally into a garage attached to a house. We would imagine the truck was traveling at a good clip because the collision was brutal enough to cause structural damage, the roof collapsing onto the pickup itself.
When first responders arrived, they had to work quickly to get the injured driver of the F-150 once they realized the bed was loaded with dangerous pool chemicals. That would seem to indicate the driver might possibly be in the business of cleaning residential pools.
A HAZMAT team was called to remove the chemicals safely from the truck before the vehicle could be pulled out of the wreckage of the house. Unsurprisingly, the home was deemed unsafe for anyone to enter.
It’s a small miracle nobody other than the driver of the Ford F-150 was hurt in this incident. After all, someone in the house or in a yard could’ve been mowed down or crushed by the falling roof. While it’s sad the people who live in the home need to find somewhere else to stay, it could’ve turned out far worse.
