The first Tesla Cybertruck ever in Ghana, in fact in all of West Africa, arrived recently after billionaire Kwame Despite imported the all-electric pickup. No doubt this move was done as a bit of a flex. After all, the guy owns a Ferrari 488 GTB, Rolls-Royce Ghost, Bugatti Veyron, Bentley Continental GT, and other pricey, impressive rides.
Shaq now owns two Cybertrucks, both with widebody kits.
So to those of us who have seen the Cybertruck and not been all that impressed, this might seem like a weird flex. But to be the first in anything can be a huge ego uplift, not to mention helps cement the guy’s status in his community.
Compared to his other rides, the Cybertruck is honestly on the low end when it comes to monetary value. But the thing is garish enough and unique, so it’s a trophy all the same.
Reports indicate Despite is already showing off the Tesla, which appears to for now not have a wrap or any treatment done to the stainless steel body. Considering all the crazy cosmetic modifications we’re seeing done to Cybertrucks in the US, that’s a little shocking.
But you also have to keep in mind that the Cybertruck is an exotic vehicle in Africa, at least for now. Sure, Bugattis and Ferraris and such are going to turn heads, but when there’s only one of these geometric monstrosities tooling around the big continent, it’s going to make everyone stop and stare.
Supposedly a second Ghanan, a forex trader who goes by Kojo Forex, filmed himself buying a Cybertruck. The video uploaded to Instagram shows him taking delivery of the all-electric truck after paying for it in cash. However, he doesn’t live in Ghana but instead resides in Dubai where at least a few Cybertrucks are present on the road.
We expect as time marches on and production continues, Cybertrucks will be spotted all around the world. While not everyone loves them, they’re unique enough to capture the imagination of enough people that they will likely maintain at least a cult following for the foreseeable future.
