People sadly dump vehicles in bodies of water all the time, like this Ford Bronco which sat in a pond undiscovered for 30 years. In case you don’t know what water and all those minerals from the soil does to a vehicle, it’s not pretty. That means once a vehicle is pulled from the murky depths, it’s pretty much only fit for scrap, nothing more.
This is how you escape a sinking car.
And that’s a real shame. We’re sure when this thing was originally submerged it wasn’t considered anything special by the involved parties. In fact, we can recall when most people treated trucks like this with derision, calling them trash and such.
But today, some will pay big money for one of these old Broncos. It’s funny how time changes things. When that time is mixed with water and soil minerals, that change is pretty awful.
The crew which located and yanked this Ford Bronco out of the pond is the Wrecked And Recovered YouTube channel. They travel around removing cars from bodies of water, something a few YouTubers do, either as a side gig of a full-time job.
The pond is at a “secret” location, we guess to protect a beloved fishing spot. After all, putting your favorite outdoor areas online can lead to crowds and all kinds of problems.
What the Bronco is doing in the pond is the first question everyone asks. Some believe all vehicles dumped in bodies of water are from insurance fraud cases. While a fair number of these cases do involved insurance fraud, sometimes the cars have been stolen, then dumped. That’s a way for criminals to destroy evidence and throw authorities off their trail.
Then there are the accidents. Those are the saddest cases since they usually involve fatalities. Someone suffers a medical episode, falls asleep, or something else causes them to crash into a body of water and they can’t get out of the vehicle, which becomes a watery grave.
In this case, police ran the VIN and it returned with a stolen vehicle report from 1994. Who knows what the truck was used for before someone decided to dispose of it, but that was the Bronco’s last act.
