Crazy builds can be a lot of fun, but we have to say we didn’t see this Dodge Challenger Hellcat body bolted onto a Tesla Model S Plaid chassis coming. We’ve seen guys do the reverse and swap an LS or some other V8 engine into a Tesla before, which seems to really anger the Tesla crowd. But this should make the Mopar faithful see red.
Guy hacks up his Tesla Model 3 to create a supercar.
The guy who runs the BoostedBoiz YouTube channel, Kyle, bought a wrecked Tesla Model S Plaid from Copart over two years ago. While the body was trashed, the chassis, which includes all those batteries and electric motors, was fortunately just fine.
Originally, Kyle and his crew cut off the Tesla’s body (because they are unibodies, not body-on-frame caveman cars) and grafted a Honda Odyssey’s body onto the chassis (also a sophisticated unibody vehicle).
That original build came with some fitment issues with the minivan’s interior. That’s when Kyle realized the Dodge Challenger was a better candidate for a body swap. Using a Hellcat was only logical.
While to the average person the build looks like a Mopar muscle car, those who know Challengers and especially Hellcats can right away tell by the wheels and headlights something really weird is going on. They also call it the e-Kitty. If only the new Dodge EV were as fast or cool-looking.
Kyle openly admits he was excited to body swap a Hellcat onto his Tesla Plaid because he knew it would anger the Dodge crowd more than any other. While some undoubtedly are going to be upset and cry about this build, we actually think most Mopar guys have a good sense of humor so they’ll appreciate this for what it is: a YouTuber trying to get attention.
We don’t blame Kyle one bit. This is a funny, creative build, so we’re happy to give him more views and that sweet, sweet attention he and every other YouTuber craves. Check out the video and have a laugh for yourself.
