Professional musician Post Malone is known for being quite the gearhead with an impressive car collection, but his Bugatti Chiron is particularly infamous. Called “Angel” for its all-white, angelic appearance, the French hypercar was at the center of a legal battle that grew fierce before it was finally resolved.
Learn why Bugatti designed a bespoke cupholder for one owner’s Chiron.
Originally, Post Malone bought the Bugatti from OB Prestige Auto, a boutique dealer located in Quebec, Canada, back in 2019. At the time, the celebrity seemed overjoyed at the prospect of owning the hypercar with its unique spec.
The all-white exterior with silver accents, Caractere wheels, and black calipers is striking. But the white interior with comfort seats and aluminum inlay for the center console really sends people over the top. There is no other Chiron quite like it.
That’s probably why when DuPont Registry had the privilege of listing it for sale in 2022 many well-heeled parties were immediately interested in buying it. The fact a celebrity owned the Bugatti only sweetened the deal.
A man in Nevada got on the DuPont registry on March 3 and filled out an inquiry form for the Chiron. That man claims he heard from an auto broker the same day, with a verbal agreement to purchase the vehicle for $3.5 million.
However, before the broker emailed a contract, another interested party in Maryland allegedly sent a signed contract back, offering even more for Post Malone’s Bugatti. The broker called the Nevada buyer back and informed him of the development.
But the Nevada man claims the broker was concerned the other party couldn’t finalize the purchase. That’s when the guy in Nevada offered to wire the $3.5 million in cash over by the next day, reports KUTV.
In the meantime, the broker sent the sales contract over, which stipulated if the sale wasn’t completed by the next day, the party in Nevada had first right of refusal. There isn’t anything too unusual about that.
But the next day, after the Maryland buyer failed to close the deal, the guy in Nevada and the auto broker got into a disagreement on the phone. Allegedly, the broker hung up and ghosted the other man.
That triggered a five-figure lawsuit, which apparently was settled because the Nevada man was later captured on camera in 2023 sitting in the Bugatti, with a protective cover over the driver’s seat, of course.
