If you’re looking to conquer King of the Hammers or whatever trails are in your neck of the woods, this custom-built off-roader we found listed online might be your ticket. While the build sure seems impressive enough, don’t expect some sort of steal here, you’re going to pay for a quality product, but you might decide the cost of admission is well worth it.
A supercharged Humvee is absolutely insane.
Listed on Facebook Marketplace in Palmdale, California just a couple of weeks ago, this “2015 M&S Fabrication 4800 King of the Hammers Car” has an asking price of $52,000. That’s going to scare some potential buyers off, but this isn’t someone’s junked out Isuzu Rodeo on a questionable lift and 32-inch mud tires.
We’re pretty sure the chassis was made by M&S Fabrication out of Southern California, which has created racing chassis for a long time, but we’d ask the seller if we were serious about this rig. The listing does say it’s made out of 1 3/4” tubing.
Power comes via a 2003 LQ4 6.0-liter with ported heads plus a Brian Tooley racing cam, Chevy SSR intake and injectors. That’s bolted up to a TH400, a transmission so many known and trust for good reason.
In addition, there’s a built NP205 transfer case, a heavily customized Dana 60 front axle, and a Trail Gear Rock Assault 9-inch rear axle in a 10-inch housing with many other mods. That’s the deal with this rig through and through, modified for going fast in rough trail conditions.
Another highlight is the suspension. Up front are Race Runner shocks with remote reservoir, made by Sway Away. In the rear are Fox 2.5 Series shocks with remote reservoir, plus a four-link setup with solid billet links to prevent breakages. And for good measure, each corner features a nitrogen-filled bump stop.
There are many other details listed out by the seller, just know in the pictures are 42-inch Maxxis Trepadore tires with Raceline beadlock wheels, but a set of 37-inch Toyo tires also mounted on Raceline beadlocks are included.
