Thieves stole three classic cars from a locked parking lot outside a business on Broadway Avenue in Garfield Heights, Ohio. The theft, which occurred early Thursday morning, has left the owner, Abe Hamed of Inshi Automotive, and the local community in shock over the audacity of the crime.
The stolen vehicles include a 1978 black Pontiac Firebird, a 1972 gold Cadillac Deville, and a 1972 Chevy Chevelle. Hamed described the move as “very bold,” noting that the thieves targeted the cars of value. Surveillance footage captured a U-Haul van arriving at the scene, with individuals cutting the power to disable cameras before forcefully removing the locked gate to access the vehicles.
The operation to remove the three cars from the lot is believed to have involved several individuals and taken at least an hour to complete. One car was driven off the premises, while the other two were either towed or trailered away. In a particularly audacious move, the thieves broke the window of another vehicle that was blocking one of the targeted cars, pushing it out of the way to facilitate the theft.
Hamed suspects that the theft was the result of careful planning by individuals with insider knowledge of the car industry. Following the incident, Hamed took to Facebook to post about the stolen vehicles, leading to a tip that helped Garfield Heights police locate the Cadillac. However, the Pontiac Firebird and Chevy Chevelle remain missing.
In a bid to recover the cherished classic cars, Hamed is now offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to their return. The Garfield Heights Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward, as the investigation into this daring theft continues. The community remains hopeful that the remaining cars will be recovered and returned to their rightful owner.
