Back on June 11, Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was pulled over for allegedly speeding on an Ohio highway in his Mercedes G-Wagon. While that story made a few waves, the bodycam footage from that incident has been released and we’ve included it for your viewing.
Learn about 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy’s humble car.
Watson might know all the Browns’ plays by heart and can direct the offense with confidence, but the traffic stop obviously has him a bit flustered. In the footage we see him going through stacks of stuff in the Merecedes’ glovebox, trying to find the registration and insurance info to hand over to the trooper.
We know a lot of people don’t have everything organized in their vehicle, so we’re not saying the NFL player is incompetent or anything. Just it’s interesting to see another side of the guy when he’s not on the field or in front of a bunch of cameras, just one.
For his part, the Ohio trooper is courteous and professional. The guy even jokes about the little dog on the lap of the front passenger, calling it a “killer” as it yaps incessantly.
Despite being nice about the incident, the trooper does write a citation for Watson instead of giving him a warning. After all, he was allegedly going 27 mph over the speed limit. He’s just fortunate that wasn’t a little bit faster or he technically could’ve been hit with a criminal charge.
Of course, Watson has had his fair share of problems lately, thanks in part to sexual misconduct accusations by two dozen women. He sat out part of last season, so getting a speeding ticket is a minor thing in comparison.
By far the most hilarious part of the video is how the little dog’s face is blurred out along with the passengers’. Why did they blur the dog? Is this a thing now? Will the dog sue or will the owner sue if its likeness is portrayed in a police bodycam video?
