We definitely think this barn find condition Dodge Viper should be classified as some sort of serious crime. After all, the American sports car should be cherished, not left to rot in a forest – that’s right, it wasn’t even just shoved inside a rickety barn and forgotten about.
A barn find 1968 Corvette 427 has a criminal past.
If we were running things, it would be straight to the gulag for the person responsible for this atrocity. Instead, we’re not but a hero did rescue the snake and gave it a nice bath, fully detailing the filthy Dodge while documenting the process in a YouTube video.
While we at first thought the person who neglected this Viper should be publicly flogged, the story behind it is actually really sad. In the video, the owner talks about how his brother bought the car when it was brand new and really did love and pamper it.
The brother died back in 2015, leaving his beloved Dodge behind. It’s all the man has of his sibling. His plan was to restore the ride his brother loved, but then the owner suffered a major heart attack, bringing those plans to a sudden halt.
When crisis strikes, project cars suddenly aren’t so urgent or needful. Still, it’s obvious that the filthy state of the Viper bothers the owner.
Then the professional detailer gets to work, thoroughly cleaning the exterior and interior. Unfortunately, with years of grime gone, it’s obvious the clear coat didn’t survive on certain parts of this Viper. That means some restoration work is in order, something we hope the owner sees through.
In the end, the owner states he has a nice spot in the barn for this snake. Hopefully it doesn’t sit there for 30 years.
While it makes the Ford faithful full of venomous hate, the Dodge Viper was in fact created as the spiritual successor to the AC Cobra, hence the name. It had the blessing of Carroll Shelby himself, with a ridiculously large, powerful engine shoved into a lightweight, simple chassis. Wouldn’t it be something if Ford had the guts to do something like that?
