Even if he isn’t in the leading overall position for the current Formula One season, Max Verstappen is still a champion. That was clearly on display when on his week off from competition the man snuck onto the Nurburgring using an assumed name and rocked out in a Ferrari 293 GT3.
Check out the newest F1 movie trailer.
The four-time F1 champion blew his own cover by posting about the test run on the Nordschleife using his popular social media accounts. Through those we know he registered to drive on the famous German track under the name “Franz Hermann” even though some still are trying to claim that wasn’t him.
He obviously used the name not to avoid detection afterwards but so he could do the test run without a media circus trailing him. We can hardly blame the guy for just wanting to get on a track and do his thing.

Verstappen has been talking about doing GT3 racing for a while now, and this isn’t the first time he’s participated in a GT3 car’s testing. It doesn’t hurt he was able to do it all discretely through his Verstappen.com team, which happens to be in the GT World Challenge.
In the recent past, Verstappen tried out the boundary-pushing Acura ARX06 endurance racecar. The man likes driving all sorts of vehicles, including monster trucks. He’s just into performance and isn’t some F1 diva, unlike Lewis Hamilton, who would never stoop to race in another motorsport.
It’s well-known that Verstappen isn’t amused by the horse and pony show that accompanies racing in F1 versus other series. That might have been part of what was going on for him after the Saudi Arabian GP when people thought he was just being rude.
