Jeep Wrangler Wrecks Running From Police

Estimated read time 2 min read

Far too often we see Jeep Wrangler drivers acting like they’re driving some sort of sports car instead of an off-road rig. It’s almost like they don’t understand the performance limits of their vehicle with its solid front and rear axles, believing they can push it as hard as they want through turns and such. But as you can see in this police chase footage, that can turn into a pretty big accident.

Learn about the corrosion problem plaguing new Jeep Wranglers.

The driver refused to pull over for an Arkansas trooper after he was clocked going over 100 mph. It’s gutsy going that fast in a rig like this on the highway, but to then try outrunning Arkansas State Police, well that’s just plain stupid.

Unsurprisingly, the chase doesn’t go well for this guy. After all, with the higher center of gravity, suspension tuned more for crawling over obstacles than sticking turns, etc. the Jeep wouldn’t be our first choice for a getaway vehicle. But it’s been done before and usually ends in tragedy of some sort.

None of that keeps the suspect driver from pushing the rig to over 110 mph once he sees a cop is chasing him. He swerves around slower vehicles, cutting it super close several times, risking a serious accident at speeds which would be more devastating for him than anyone else.

Ultimately, what takes this Jeep down is a sweeping right turn. If you’ve driven many Wranglers that’s not the least bit surprising. For this genius it’s probably shocking as the vehicle veers right off the pavement.

In this case, it turns out the Wrangler was in fact a rental. Perhaps the guy behind the wheel decided since it wasn’t his vehicle he could treat it however he pleased without facing consequences. But we see people who actually own Jeeps like this one do similar things as if nothing will come of it – go figure.
