$4.5 Million In Cocaine Found Hidden In Tractor-Trailer

Estimated read time 2 min read

Probably because we’re somewhat naïve when it comes to drug smuggling practices, and that’s a good thing, but we were shocked to see 360 lbs. of cocaine was found in a tractor-trailer’s bed, which reportedly has a street value of about $4.5 million.

Watch an Arkansas trooper get roasted by some motorcycles.

The bust happened in the Bronx, New York on August 9 after police uncovered evidence of the smuggling operation and performed surveillance on the truck. Again, we have to say that’s a pretty clever place to stash drugs to transport them around undetected, making us wonder just how many times these guys got away with it before.

Per local station WPIX, police were working on the interstate drug smuggling operation when they observed the tractor-trailer stop at a suspected meetup spot. Not too long after, a Jeep Cherokee arrived. People from both vehicles met, then a man from the Jeep started showing the truck where to pull in, perhaps to unload the cocaine.

In other words, the crazy stuff we thought was just trumped up for entertainment on Breaking Bad might have been truer to real life than we ever suspected. We’re sure many in the drug smuggling business stay up at night dreaming up new ways to hide narcotics shipments so they can stay ahead of authorities.

We have seen smugglers install hidden compartments behind body panels on cars, so we guess this isn’t any crazier than that.

What’s also interesting is some of the cocaine packages feature a photo of Ronaldo. Exactly why that is doesn’t seem apparent to us, other than the soccer star being huge in Latin America where the cocaine likely originated. Maybe someone has some additional insight on that odd detail.
