Jeep Wrangler Driver Gets Crazy With Ohio Troopers

Estimated read time 2 min read

It’s amazing how many people seem to think doubling down on bad choices will help them escape consequences. That attitude turned a simple traffic stop for a guy driving a Jeep Wrangler in Erie County, Ohio into a felonious fleeing situation resulting in a long list of charges.

Watch a Jeep come off a trailer and drive itself.

The crazy dashcam footage brought to us by Great Lakes Chases is really something else. Getting caught going over 100 mph is bad but not the end of the world. Making it a little worse was the trooper getting a sniff of marijuana in the cab. But when the guy decides to physically fight the trooper, get back into his Jeep, then lead troopers on a high-flying chase it all comes apart in a hurry.

Well, we’re not sure we’d call almost 40 minutes of fleeing a hurry, although it is compared to how much time the suspect ultimately spent behind bars.

During the chase, the suspect pushes his Wrangler to over 100 mph, blasting past people on the highway, sometimes at scary close distances. How he didn’t cause a serious accident is likely nothing short of a miracle.

Troopers were smart, blocking exits and setting up spike strip traps. This keeps the suspect from taking the chase to streets with intersections, which would’ve ramped up the risk of a serious crash.

Because he was in a Jeep Wrangler, the guy also isn’t able to really gap troopers. With at least one tire spiked he also can’t run quite like before. But he still manages to use the off-roader to break through the tool barrier before reaching Toledo.

Not too long after, a trooper tries slowing him down by getting in front of the Jeep. But the suspect gets alongside the cruiser and tries pushing the trooper around. Instead, the Wrangler gets slapped into the guardrail, sparks flying and the rig going up on two wheels, almost flipping.

It becomes a foot chase from there, but that doesn’t last long. So once again we see running from police is dumb, especially in a Jeep Wrangler.
