Man Wires Cash To Dealer For A Mercedes G-Wagon, Gets Nothing

Buying a car online can come with certain risks, especially when doing business with an unfamiliar dealership in another state. Sadly, a man in Hawaii learned that lesson the hard way when he wired $275,000 to a dealer in Florida and never received the vehicle.

Watch a hailstorm do serious damage at a dealership.

The man in Hawaii was excited when he finally tracked down a lightly used 2023 Brabus Mercedes-Benz G63. It’s his dream vehicle and so he eagerly did what he claims the dealership instructed, wiring the purchase price to secure the luxury SUV.

Unfortunately, we see stories like this all the time. Dealerships or at least people posing as dealers have car shoppers wire money for the outright purchase of an expensive ride. They take the money and never send the vehicle, leaving the shopper perplexed.

Sometimes in these cases the dealership is a complete fabrication and never existed. Other times scammers use a dealer’s info, logo, and even inventory photos to appear more legitimate. But in this case the dealership is apparently real.

According to Local 10, the South Florida car dealer has a history of taking people’s money and never delivering a vehicle. Dream Auto Collection in Hollywood has been the topic of other reports by the news station.

When a reporter tried speaking with someone who allegedly is a manager at Dream Auto Collection about the man in Hawaii, the guy didn’t want to answer questions. Shortly after that confrontation, the victim said he received communication stating the G-Wagon had been sold to someone else and his money would be refunded sometime in August.

Before you just hand your hard-earned cash over to a dealership, be it local or especially one out of your area, do some thorough investigating to ensure the business is legitimate. That won’t guarantee a positive outcome, but it certainly won’t hurt.
