We, like so many others, think a nice clean 1956 Pontiac Chieftain is one good-looking classic car. But finding one is no easy task, which is why we love vicariously living that experience through videos like this one.
This 1954 Corvette build pushes extreme performance.
The video was shared by lesser-known car YouTuber LukeChildress. He says the car was a one-owner before the current owner bought it, plus it comes with a ton of documentation, including some original paperwork.
Once you see the actual ’56 Pontiac Chieftain, it’s not hard to believe it stuck with the same family for decades. While it’s dirty and needs some restoration work, overall it’s not in too bad of shape.
That’s especially true since it had been sitting in the woods on some guy’s property in Tennessee. To think someone stored this 50s bombshell beauty out in the open like that almost makes us want to cry.
Thankfully, it was dragged from that sad resting spot onto a wrecker and whisked away to a home where it can get the love it deserves. After all, something so special should be treated as such.
Despite needing some care, the good news is the Chieftain is complete and at least mostly original. It’s quite the find the YouTuber seems to genuinely appreciate, so he should take excellent care of the classic Pontiac.
A walkaround of the vehicle shows all the doors open and close, there’s little rust present on the body, and the interior looks shockingly good (including he headliner not sagging). We’d say Mr. Childress scored solid gold.
Our big question to you is if you were so fortunate to find a ride like this, what would you do with it? Keep it as-is? Repaint and recarpet? Or would you go for a full restoration, turning it into a high-level show car?
