An astonishingly attractive 1969 Chevrolet Corvette convertible owned by the great Nicolas Cage has hit the market, meaning it’s up for grabs and you could become its new steward. Boasting some recent restoration work, the American sports car looks sleek and ready to wow people at the local car show, especially when they learn who used to tool around Tinseltown from behind the steering wheel.
The 1969 Dodge Charger from Death Proof is now for sale.
Think about it: you get to sit in the same seat that was graced by the rump of Nic Cage himself. How many people can say they’ve put their tuckus on the same cushioning as the great thespian known for his Sheakespeare-esque performances in the likes of Con Air, Ghost Rider, Face/Off, National Treasure, and other mines of hilarious meme materials?
Listed on Bring A Trailer, plenty of people are talking about this ride, even if they’re not interested in owning it. With a 427 L36 under the hood, paired with a four-speed manual transmission, plus a vinyl-covered removable hardtop, as well as the celebrity ownership, it’s no wonder.
This same ’69 Corvette was listed on Bring a Trailer back in the summer of 2021. Since then, the new owner has added new upholstery to the interior, plus replaced the power steering components, battery, radiator, tires, and accelerator pump.
Back when it auctioned in 2021, the top bid was $62,500. When this article was written, bidding had three days left (it will be two when this publishes) and the current bid was sitting at $50,000. How much will it rise above that? Will the seller see it go well beyond what they paid over three years ago? If not, will reserve not be met and this celebrity owned ride won’t sell?
There’s no doubt the allure of Nicolas Cage isn’t what it used to be. After all, the movie star isn’t quite a star anymore, thanks to a combination of reasons. Gone are the glory days of his 90s action flicks, but does his name have enough pull to elevate this C3’s value much higher? It will be interesting to see the result.
