Nicolas Cage Was Blacklisted By Ferrari For A Surprising Reason

Estimated read time 2 min read

One of the most infamous unofficial and therefore unconfirmed things about Ferrari is the blacklist of people who supposedly can’t buy a car through an official dealership. Many famous people are allegedly on that list, including Nicholas Cage. But what he reportedly did to land there is shocking to many.

Guy rents out his Ferrari, gets a pile of ashes in return.

Back in the day, Cage was a hot commodity in Hollywood, starring in many blockbuster films The man was worth a ridiculous amount, but that all changed rapidly. As his investments turned sour, he found himself possibly facing bankruptcy.

Rather than go through that financial hell, Cage sold pretty much every car he owned, along with properties and other assets. Among them was his Ferrari Enzo, one of only 400 made.

What reportedly rankled Ferrari, according to FandomWire, is that Nicholas Cage sold the hypercar for less than its market value. We assume he did so to get whatever money he could out of it rapidly to head off his creditors from pushing him where he didn’t want to go.

However, Ferrari allegedly didn’t like what that did to its brand image. After all, not only was the Enzo named after the beloved founder, it’s a halo model. Ferrari has been notorious for controlling who can buy what car, but these low-production halo models are something the automaker is the most particular about.

If Nicholas Cage is in fact blacklisted by Ferrari, this was probably done to discourage anyone from following his example. The last thing the powers that be in Maranello want anyone to perceive especially top-level models as being is budget-friendly and not investments.

As many celebrities and even well-heeled collectors have learned over the years, playing hardball with Ferrari is a losing proposition.
